Something That Makes The Effort Worthwhile

August 26, 2007

Sold a valuable car to someone many miles away on description. This is always nerve wracking, especially when they are not trade. I don’t know who loses most sleep, the person shelling out £16000 for something they have never seen to someone they have never met, or to be describing something that’s been used over three years and 80000 miles accurately to ensure they are happy with the description once they receive the goods. Anyway, it all turned out well, here’s the text from a message received after collection by his agent.

“I purchased the BMW 530d that is illustrated on the home page.  I was extremely nervous as I made the deal through e-bay.  However, I need not have worried as the transaction was simple and the vehicle was as described and met all my aspirations.  Steve was brilliant, storing, my vehicle for several weeks until I could pick it up and he met my driver at the station making collection a doddle. An excellent dealer and I can wholeheartedly recommend him, a first class service.”So all is well that ends well.

David and Goliath

November 21, 2006

Pleased to have slain Car Giant yesterday with a perfectly polished gem of a Renault Clio Expression 5 door. Rare car with Air Conditioning and Sunroof, but what sold it was the preparation. And they could only see it in the half-light following a nightmare journey around train cancellations. At least the journey was worthwhile. They were a little disappointed with previous viewings at larger dealers and supermarkets to say the least. Mind you, this weather and time of year, keeping cars clean is a challenge in itself.

Not Only Rockstars Have Side Projects

November 3, 2006

With the whole world wide web out there to play in even cars sales entrepreneurs have distractions. My side project with former colleague Ralph Spence (emeritus sales executive of Renault Retail - REAGROUP amongst others) carbuyersinfo is really beginning to shape up into quite an archive of essential information to consider before you take the plunge with a new (or used) car. We’ve also sharpened our pencil to ensure there’s some great new car offers advertised. Bookmark the site and subscribe to the newsletter when that facility is launched in the near future.

Always good news both new and second-hand!

October 6, 2006

Since it’s introduction when the last model Clio was facelifted in 2001 the Dynamique model has been the small sporty hatchback du jour of the Duran Duran generation, the twentysomethings who want a safe good looking car with a sporty feel that’s packed with extras at an affordable price. And I’m not just saying affordable to buy, but affordable to own, i.e cheap to insure, reliable, economical and with good second-hand values. On every count the car has stood up well, low group three insurance makes it one of the best looking cars in that bracket, I have rarely had any real problems whatsoever with any age of Clio Dynamique and we have run them in the family on and off since launch. The five speed gearbox linked to a modern sixteen valve 1.2 litre engine delivers 47.9 mpg, just what’s required with today’s fuel costs! Finally on the ticking all the boxes front, second hand values. You only need to go to a Renault branded car auction at (say) BCA Blackbushe to see just what these cars are capable of making on the day. A clean, actually even a superficially damaged car will go on to make what would be expected of a car a whole year younger – they are t h a t sought after. A black Clio in particular, if you are prepared to keep it clean and fairly supermarket mark-free will always be a highly desirable proposition.

So whether it’s the sporty suspension settings, the sporty look of the interior or exterior spoiler and alloy wheel appendages, or the feel of the car when you sit in the comfortable supportive sports seats and begin to appreciate the tactile steering wheel and other controls – the amazing specification per pound of this model will always impress.

But of course I’ve been describing the last model Clio, still available (for the time being) but as a similar specified car called a ‘Campus Sport’, the latest model Clio launched about a year ago is now even safer having gained the coveted 5 Star NCAP Safety Rating, and is fitted with a slightly more powerful 1.4 litre engine. the styling as is always the case brings the car right up to date, the combination of which I am sure will continue to ensure that it’s future values will be just as impressive as it’s predecessor.

Full details of the new model Clio Dynamique can be found here along with other car buying and ownership articles. In the meantime here’s a picture of the latest model Clio Dynamique, compared to many of the other Euro-boxes out there it’s a great looking little car isn’t it!

Better late than never…

October 5, 2006

It’s been a few days since I made a journal entry of some description. Four days have gone by as fast as four hours. Met some really interesting people who have become customers and have bought and sold some really nice stock, both to trade and retail customers. Sales have been so good that I am really low on stock and I would be wise to keep the momentum going. The problem is that the cars have sold because they were exceptionally good value in one respect or another. it may  be number of owners, it may be mileage, it may be condition, colour or desirability. But in conversation with another dealer friend, neither of us are going to compromise just for the sake of it. The replacements have to be the right model, right engine, transmission, colour and price! I am close to buying a Renaultsport Megane 225 and have had verbal confirmation that a very nice and highly desirable Renault Clio Dynamique dCi 100 bhp is heading my way. I’ll add more to the site once they are confirmed and or photographed.

My co-defendant in this site, currently being developed, has written this great piece about ESP, not extra sensory perception, but the mechanical equivalent Electronic Stability Program – I would second his tip within the conclusion but add that if you talk to me before you buy your next car you may not have to compromise your metallic at the expense of safety!

Check it out!

September 28, 2006

With so many cars being offered fraudulently online (as described in recent posts) it’s important that you make every effort to check a car’s authenticity – as well as the vendor. This applies in reverse too if you are selling a car!

A young customer buying her own car for the first time has been using HPI to check out one of my cars. Everything I buy into stock has the alternative Experian Gold Check to confirm details of provenance as well as all the identification numbers, if the car has been stolen, if the car is on a high risk register, Association of British Insurers register, DVLA flagged information, Finance Register, cherished number plate changes, keeper change details and colour change.

The HPI report she has purchased for about twenty pounds also includes a check as to the authenticity of the MOT Certificate as well as the V5 identification number. There’s also nothing to prevent you having a copy of any service history to check out servicing completed.

It seems wise in this day and age to not leave a stone uncovered because if scammers can be bothered to produce a 15000 positive feedback rating on EBAY, they will have plenty of time to forge and create false identities on desirable cars.

Here’s a tip if you’re selling and accepting a bank draft. As the person presenting the bank draft has to either produce two forms of ID at the bank to obtain a draft or be known to the bank, ask them to bring this ID with them. You can ask for a copy and or details of the draft in advance, but often I find when asked, banks are reluctant to confirm details. With the same ID as they have requested you have a little more security.

NEW Quick View Used Car Stocklist

August 29, 2006

I’ve added a link to my home page to a quick view used car stocklist. Specifically for anyone who wishes to scan a list for basic information and budget. There’s also a link to a selection of used cars sold this year, which hopefully give an indication of the quality of preparation applied to the used cars for sale.

In the meantime here’s a picture of a low mileage Renaultsport Clio V6 255 sold earlier in 2006.

Top 20 Like A Bullet

August 4, 2006

Having delivered the 20th Renaultsport Clio 182 Trophy I thought that the event warranted a little publicity, after all there were only 500 to begin with, they don’t grow on trees and if I don’t flag up these occasions then nobody else will! So, within the allvehicles.co.uk website i’ve published a press release and with the kind permission of the 20th purchaser a photo of the auspicious event. I’ll forward to some newspapers and magazines, but quite honestly, with the Internet and weblogs to hand, I am my own publisher nowadays anyway! Who needs Rupert Murdoch? N.B. Pleased to report that Mr D has already e-mailed to say how much he is enjoying the car.

Otherwise a little light on the allvehicles weblog front, with my having been very busy conducting the day to day running of the business and readying quite a few cars for delivery since the last post. A few more ready to go and will be delivered over the weekend.

I am looking for stock right now, so if you’re reading this and recognise some of the cars herewith or within the site for sale please contact me as there’s a good chance I may be your best buyer. Or as I quote, “Don’t part-exchange until we have spoken!”
