Something That Makes The Effort Worthwhile

August 26, 2007

Sold a valuable car to someone many miles away on description. This is always nerve wracking, especially when they are not trade. I don’t know who loses most sleep, the person shelling out £16000 for something they have never seen to someone they have never met, or to be describing something that’s been used over three years and 80000 miles accurately to ensure they are happy with the description once they receive the goods. Anyway, it all turned out well, here’s the text from a message received after collection by his agent.

“I purchased the BMW 530d that is illustrated on the home page.  I was extremely nervous as I made the deal through e-bay.  However, I need not have worried as the transaction was simple and the vehicle was as described and met all my aspirations.  Steve was brilliant, storing, my vehicle for several weeks until I could pick it up and he met my driver at the station making collection a doddle. An excellent dealer and I can wholeheartedly recommend him, a first class service.”So all is well that ends well.

Resurrected Work Bloggage

August 19, 2007

I’ve resurrected this work blog as it seems a shame to have it dormant. I’ll blog note-worthy stuff from my day-to-day existence! Rather than blogging I’ve been busy posting in performance car forums, but would admit to severe creative block for the last six months at least.

Been a busy last few days handing Renaultsport and Honda Type Rs over to their new owners  -they all looked superb…. that cars that is!

Blogging non-work papaphenalia on facebook now, or as I call it ‘My Face’.

Performance Car Bargain Renaultsport Megane 225

November 21, 2006

This steel grey metallic Renaultsport Megane 225 2.0 Turbo 6 Speed just arrived. It’s covered 18000 miles by two owners and in excellent condition throughout. These are very fast cars with a zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds and on to over 140mph in the right country. These are a real step up in performance from (say) a Renaultsport Clio 182 2.0 16v and make a very affordable upgrade. To complimement the performance they have huge Brembo brakes that are not for the feint hearted. They have enormous stopping power on a car of this weight. All in all, these RS 225’s are a performance bargain.

This 2005 (05) Renault Megane 225  is available for only £11995 (circa £20000 new) other similar cars are available here

More pictures are here.

A Year in Provenance

November 21, 2006

Silly title, but serious subject. This from today’s Motor Trader Hot News e-mail. Press release from Experian Automotive regarding cars with finance outstanding. All cars bought and sold through allvehicles.co.uk are checked using the gold standard Experian Gold Check (similar alternative to HPI Check) for any outstanding finance, insurance, condition and DVLA issues. Here’s the press release:

‘The biggest threat to used car buyers is the risk of ending up with a car still on finance, according to research from Experian. Rob Whalley, managing director of Experian’s automotive division, claimed that through the provenance firm’s AutoCheck system, it had found that around 30 per cent of all the cars checked still had outstanding finance. He warned: “Statistically, car buyers face a greater threat of ending up with a car that still has finance outstanding on it, as fraudsters attempt to sell them on without settling the bill.” ‘

David and Goliath

November 21, 2006

Pleased to have slain Car Giant yesterday with a perfectly polished gem of a Renault Clio Expression 5 door. Rare car with Air Conditioning and Sunroof, but what sold it was the preparation. And they could only see it in the half-light following a nightmare journey around train cancellations. At least the journey was worthwhile. They were a little disappointed with previous viewings at larger dealers and supermarkets to say the least. Mind you, this weather and time of year, keeping cars clean is a challenge in itself.
